What is the CD-ROM Shop privacy Policy?

Our privacy policy is very simple. We NEVER release any of your personal information to ANYONE outside of our company. We will not sell, rent or supply your personal details to any third party. The only exception is in cases of attempted credit card fraud, we will provide the information provided to the Police for their investigation.

What does "PREBOOK" mean?

"PREBOOK" means that the title has not yet been released or reprinted by the publisher. As soon as the title is available we will ship your order right out to you. We receive our release date information from the publishers. If they are listing as PREBOOK with a date that is in the past, it means that the title is overdue from the publisher and they have not yet provided us with a revised release date.

Do you sell or buy any used software?

We do not buy or sell any used software. All of the software we sell is new, factory sealed, in the original box with all manuals, warantee cards etc. included.

What is the difference between the Jewel Case and Box versions?

The only difference between the Jewel Case, and Box Versions of a CD-ROM title is that the Boxed Version comes in a large cardboard box, with more cardboard on the inside of the box as a stiffener, with still more dead trees used to hold the actual Jewel case in place.

I am told by the publishers that this is done to a) Increase the shelf exposure of the CD-ROM title in a traditional retail store, and b) to increase the "perceived value" when people pick up the package and it feels heavy. In actual fact, both the Jewel Case, and Box versions of the CD-ROM titles contain the identical software.

Because of the environmental impact of all of this unneccesary packaging, I am trying to persuade the publishers to ship us only the Jewel Case versions.

The same product is shown with two different prices. Why is that?

We get our stock from many different suppliers, and this is often at considerably different prices. We pass the savings on to you. When we are out of stock on the cheaper version of a product, it is removed from our web page, leaving only the more expensive product. The actual item itself is identical.

Some products are listed as "NO RETURN". Why is that?

Products that are listed as "NO RETURN" are closeout items on sale. Once we sell all of the copies on hand, we will be discontinuing the title. Hardware items are also non-returnable.

I add an item to my shopping basket, but when I go to the shopping basket it tells me that it is empty. How do I fix this?

In your web browser, you need to change a configuration option.
To do this in Netscape
go to Options -> Network Preferences -> Cache
Change the "Check Documents" option to be "Every Time"
To do this in Microsoft Internet Explorer
go to Edit -> Options -> Advanced -> Cache -> Change "Update pages" to "Always"
This will fix the problem.

I'm looking for a product that is not listed in your catalog. Can you help me?

We only list products we actually have in stock, but we can get just about any computer product on the planet.
