"Feelings" is an interactive, animated children's storybook on CD-ROM. It deals with how children can understand and deal with some of their most basis emotions in a positive way, with an underlying scriptural foundation. "Feelings," available on CD-ROM, can be run on all Multimedia computers with Windows 95/98. Because it is written in Microsoft Power Point with the Power Point Viewer, Power Point users can make printed copies of "Feelings" for their children, or to share with friends or use in school or church school classrooms.

Dr. Bill Long, an educator, father, grandfather and former newspaper publisher, is the author of "Feelings." Dr. Long has an undergraduate degree in English and a doctorate in education (Louisiana State University). Author's Comments:
"One December night just over two years ago, in front of the fireplace, this book evolved as my four-year-old grand-daughter told me of her experiences in kindergarten that week. Several things had made Sarah very happy, but she was quite upset because one of her playmates called her an unpleasant name.

As we tried together to understand our feelings, I thought of scriptures that relate to how we respond to people and events in our lives, and I remembered a verse from The Book of Job which reads, ‘Ask even the beasts and they will teach you, the birds of the air and they will tell you and the fish of the sea will declare to you that the hand of God has done this.’ Then, I was drawn to a verse from the book of Isaiah. ‘They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary…..’

So, I wrote for the book a verse for children, ‘When I feel timid and shy, I can be like an eagle, flying high in the sky!’ Then we created a ‘page’ with the eagle flying across it, together with music, eagle sounds and animation. The entire book is modeled upon this concept. With the help of my daughter, Grace, who provided the narration, and some other really good and talented people, the book became a reality.

Parents can read "Feelings" to their young children. As the children grow older, they will read to themselves and their friends. Our goals in producing "Feelings" are to advocate child-parent interaction, reading and language development, utilization of art and music in communication, positive self-imaging, and basic values, within the context of a exciting and enjoyable reading journey.

We believe that "Feelings" will also be an important resource for kindergarten, elementary and church-school teachers. "
