General Information
- Marketing Information: The Cisco Redundant Power System 300 (RPS 300) is designed to increase availability in converged data, voice and video networks. It can deliver your customer superior internal power supply redundancy and resiliency at an affordable price.
The single rack-unit RPS 300 supports internal power supply redundancy for up to six Cisco networking devices and features an innovative power architecture that provides your customers with an immediate fail-over capability. With the quick fail-over feature, you are ensured that the connected device will not reboot in the event of an internal power supply failure. In addition, when the failure is detected, the RPS 300 sends an alert that the other connected devices will not be supported until the failed device is restored or replaced. This alert can be monitored through CiscoWorks 2000 and Cisco`s Cluster Management Suite (CMS) web-based network management.
The RPS 300 can be combined with the Catalyst 3524-PWR Series XL desktop switch featuring inline power and a UPS to establish all of the elements of Cisco`s Centralized Power Provisioning System. This combination provides a three-pronged approach to a resilient, highly available converged network - offering internal redundant power to the switch, power to the IP phone via the switch`s inline power feature (rather than wall power), and back-up in the event of a power outage. Targeted for midmarket and enterprise customers, the RPS 300 can be configured to provide redundancy for switch-related internal power supply failures as well as power outages to ensure uninterrupted network availability in the event of either power failure.
